Celebrated children’s author, Terry Deary explores the life of Henry VIII through six nine-minute introductions to each of his six wives. Often described as the most important monarch in history, Henry VIII is also one of the most notorious.
Deary, who brought us the highly acclaimed Horrible Histories, plays a security guard at the Temple Tudor Museum and guides us through King Henry's reign during his eventful night shifts.
Each night one of the wives’ portraits hung in the museum comes to life, to re-tell their tales of misfortune in the hands of Henry VIII. The individual episodes focus on each wife in succession, allowing a detailed and colourful description of how they came to be a part of Henry’s life and how their particular stories conclude.
This is a fun approach to history teaching and an essential resource for every classroom. The lively re-enactments, period costumes and contemporised language and themes, makes the series accessible and memorable.
