True North prides itself on making compelling, original programmes that consistently achieve high ratings. After the first series of Animal 24:7 gained more than one million viewers in its 9:15am slot, the BBC gave True North its biggest ever commission – 60x45 minute episodes over eighteen months. In March 2007 we also won the commission to replace the long running Heaven and Earth Show on BBC1. Life from the Loft (working title) will go into production in early 2008.
In January 2008, My Fake Baby (Channel 4) explored the world of reborning, gained an impressive 3.8 million viewers in its 10pm slot - doubling the slot's average. And in spring 2007, Extraordinary People: The Twins Who Share a Body, became Five's second-highest-rated factual programme ever.
True North built its reputation with single documentaries and we pride ourselves on delivering popular and often headline-grabbing access-based films, like The Twins Who Share a Body, the BBC’s One Life: Getting Away with Murder, The Ripper Hoaxer: The Real Story and Real Story: Death of a Policeman.
Alongside this network output, our long running regional series The Way We Were and My Yorkshire continue to go from strength to strength with a solid and loyal following.
