True North rises in industry poll

27th August 2008

True North has been named the 16th most popular indie in the UK, in a poll voted for by our peers.

Televisual magazine’s annual Indie Survey polls the most popular production companies in the UK, as voted for by industry luminaries and production staff. In this year’s poll, True North was ranked 16th by our peers, alongside some of the biggest and best indies in the country.

The survey also ranks independent production companies, examining turnover, number of staff, and hours of production to compile the chart of the Top 100 indies in the UK.

Last year, True North was ranked 71st place, but jumped 17 places in the 2008 poll to be ranked 51st

This news cements True North’s position as the largest independent production company in Yorkshire and one of the largest factual producers outside London.

True North has been busier than ever over the past twelve months, with series four and five of Animal 24:7, two series of Animal Rescue Squad; the launch of our weekly magazine show Sunday Life and single films including My Fake Baby and One Man and His Canoe amongst others.

In order to meet this increase in output, the company has seen an influx of new staff in both production and post production areas, and has increased the number of edit suites in the post production facility to eleven.

True North Company Director Andrew Sheldon was very pleased with the company’s placing in the Televisual survey, saying “It’s a great achievement for the company, and one that the whole team can take credit for.”
